Phoenix, AZ, August 14, 2023 – As a member of the Navajo Nation and granddaughter of Navajo Code Talker PFC George Kirk, Tempe Councilmember Doreen Garlid delivered the opening remarks of the 2023 Navajo Code Talkers Day ceremony at Wesley Bolin Plaza Memorial in Phoenix. She recognized the contributions of over 20 different Native Nations whose people used their language in service and sacrifice for the United States, and offered thanks to all of the Code Talkers whose courage, bravery and loyalty will not be forgotten.
